Welcome to the site of campsite 'Le Peyret Bas'.
In May 2004 we discovered this idyllic spot near Villefranche-du-Périgord by chance. It was a quiet and private spot. The house and barn, partly built into the hill, were shining in the warm spring sun. We walked around dreamily and enjoyed everything this piece of land had to offer us; a view over a sloping meadow, bordered with a beautiful forest with a brook. Once we woke up, we knew this would be our spot, a place to feel at home and a dream coming true.
We are open from 4 July to 26 September 2020
'Le Peyret Bas' is the original name of our partly restored farm, hidden between the hills around Villefranche-du-Périgord ('Périgord Pourpre'). An ideal holiday spot for rest, sun, clean air and good food. The 'Périgord Pourpre' is located in the south west of the Dordogne at the border with the departments Lot and Let et Garonne, an ideal basis for cycling, walking, horse riding and canoeing. Also visit the brocantes, castles, museums and medieval villages and towns.
The campsite of 'Le Peyret Bas' is 5.5 ha large and exists of a meadow and a slightly sloping forest with beeches, oak trees and tame chestnuts and an old farm. A small brook flows through the forest. There are 6 spacious emplacement, some in the shadow, some in the half shadow, where you can enjoy the rest and nature.
Mass tourism has not yet discovered this part of the Dordogne. Rest and nature are the key words. Walking, cycling, swimming and fishing: the possibilities are unlimited. And for those who enjoy culture, this region has a lot to offer, such as the fortified town (bastide) Villefranche-du-Périgord (3km) with the Maison du Châtaignier, Marrons et Champignons. Also, you can go there for your daily shopping.
Villefranche-du-Périgord and its region is the ideal place for those who not only like relaxation, nature, quietness and small brooks, but also the famous kitchen with the confits, foie-gras, chestnuts, cèpes (mushroom). Each Saturday morning there is a market. Also visit nearby: the villages Besse, Prats de Périgord. Within a range of 50km you will find a variety of landscapes, towns and villages. You can visit château Bonaguil, château Biron, the 'dry stones' and cabins in Campagnac les Quercy, Sarlat (44km),Monpazier (20km), Belvès (23km), Issigeac (40km), Gourdon (35km), Domme (35km), the châteaux along the river Dordogne and of course the extensive vineyards along the river Lot (Cahors wines). Also, you can make magnificent canoe trips on the Lot.
In many towns, there are weekly markets with regional products and now and then there is a jumble sale. Each Thursday evening in July and August, there is a market with local products in Loubejac.
