Mass tourism has not yet discovered this part of the Dordogne. Rest and nature are the key words. Walking, cycling, swimming and fishing: the possibilities are unlimited. And for those who enjoy culture, this region has a lot to offer, such as the fortified town (bastide) Villefranche-du-Périgord (3km) with the Maison du Châtaignier, Marrons et Champignons. Also, you can go there for your daily shopping. Villefranche-du-Périgord and its region is the ideal place for those who not only like relaxation, nature, quietness and small brooks, but also the famous kitchen with the confits, foie-gras, chestnuts, cèpes (mushroom). Each Saturday morning there is a market. Also visit nearby: the villages Besse, Prats de Périgord. Within a range of 50km you will find a variety of landscapes, towns and villages. You can visit château Bonaguil, château Biron, the 'dry stones' and cabins in Campagnac les Quercy, Sarlat (44km), Monpazier (20km), Belvès (23km), Issigeac (40km), Gourdon (35km), Domme (35km), the châteaux along the river Dordogne and of course the extensive vineyards along the river Lot (Cahors wines). Also, you can make magnificent canoe trips on the Lot. In many towns, there are weekly markets with regional products and now and then there is a jumble sale. Each Thursday evening in July and August, there is a market with local products in Loubejac.
